With previous Setup of Adtran Point-to-Point modem, we have configured a 2 Nx64K modem. Now, we will show you how to configure a back-to-back modem G703 and Nx64K 2Mbps.
Modem 1
1. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – SHDSL Options(2) – Interface Mode(1)
a. Select either 2W or 4W, depends on your setup.
2. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – SHDSL Options(2) – Payload Rate(2)
a. Since we are configuration a Full E1 or 2Mbps, we can
select N=32 timeslot.
3. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – Unit Mode(1)
a. Select, LT (2)
4. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – Cross-Connect Map(2)
a. Press “G” for Full G.703 Service
b. You have notice the all timeslot for SHDSL and G703 change
from “0” to “1” except for Timeslot “0” which turn from “0”
to “32”, replace this to “1” (use Tab) to modify the configuration
from Frame to Unframe Mode.
c. Then Press “A” to save the configuration, and “Esc” once to move
menu backward.
5. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – Clock Source(3)
a. In this section, we can select “G.703 Rx Clock” or Internal Clock,
ideally I always select “G.703 Rx Clock”. But, if you will use
this in Point-to-point where ClockSource has problem or out of
service, we can use “internal clock” of the modem.
Modem 2
1. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – Unit Mode(1)
a. Select, NT(1)
b. Put the SHDSL cable on both modem interface (straight splice)
c. Notice that the modem SHDSL will synchronized
2. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – SHDSL Options(2) – Interface Mode(1)
a. No setup will be done here.
3. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – SHDSL Options(2) – Payload Rate(2)
a. No setup will be done here.
4. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – Cross-Connect Map(2)
a. Press “N” for Full Nx64K Service
b. All SDHL timeslot will assign to 33.
c. Then Press “A” to save the configuration, and “Esc” once to move
menu backward.
5. Main menu – Provisioning(2) – Unit Options(1) – Clock Source(3)
a. In this section, we can choose “SHDSL Rx Clock”.
Now, your setup is ready for testing. Put a V.35 Winchester type loopback connector on your NT interface and G.703 Bit Error Tester on your LT.
V.35 Loopback Assignment
